Butchering the Big Whale's Head

This is the same 40-ton whale from the picture below from a closer vantage point. Notice how the large bones of jaw and head have been cut open. hose are my students in there with the knives.

The big whale

This picture capture's Jeff Manhardt with on of our ninth-graders. Jeff taught at John Aapangalook Memorial School with me. This whale was brought in May 3, 2007 and weighed around 40 metric tons.
